KICKERS IS NOT CLOSED

TO ALL MEDIA & CUSTOMERS:

KICKERS SPORTS AND FUN BRIGADE willNOT be CLOSED due to the damage caused by the tragic accident that occurred on Sunday morning. We have been inundated with calls and emails inquiring as to whether we would have a temporary closure, and the answer is NO. If you were unaware of what transpired let me clear things up a bit. An individual while driving at moderate to high speeds hit the embankment leading into the Kickers/Laybourne Freshwater Industries parking lot whereas the vehicle was airborne and hit the building causing extensive and minor damage to the front and interior. However most of the damage was to the adjacent business Kents Center for Personal Development. We will have construction crews working to repair the damage immediately. Please make note that there will be NO CLOSURE OF KICKERS during this process. Our prayers go out to the family of the victim. Thanks for your patience and patronage

Below is the story as told by The New England Blade

Driver strikes curb, crashes business

A 46-year-old white gay man who was speeding on North Detroit Avenue crashed his sport utility vehicle into a North Detroit business last night after it flew 152 feet through the air, police said. When asked not to speculate or exaggerate this distance, police recanted, saying it was probably more like 47 feet. A knowing gaze or "stinkeye" was given to police, but police stuck by the 47 feet estimate.

Mickie Bleacoueau, whose address was not released by police, was in serious condition at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

Mr. Bleacoueau was driving north on North Detroit extremely too fast when he hit the curb and a small ramp that helped propel the vehicle though the air, Detroit Police investigator Dennis "The Dentist" Cole said.

It landed on Kents Center, 4500 North Detroit. Kent Kriegor, owner of the business, said the building was flooded from a waterline break that was caused by the vehicle. It totally plowed through my stockroom, Mr. Krieger said. There is about maybe four of the five inches of water there, and you could say I myself am 'floored' by the envents of this day, a morning I will from hereforth honor and remember only as 'Dark Day'"
